WORKS FOR ORCHESTRA

String Quartet No. 1 (2016, in press at Masters Music)
Program Notes: Music historian and IUP colleague, Irving Godt, once said to me: “You are not a real composer until you’ve written a string quartet!” With the establishing of the Litton Quartet at IUP, I began work on this four-movement work in 2008. The movements are quite contrasting with the Excursion movement being the most serious and dedicated to my faculty colleague, Irvin Kauffman; the Lament dedicated to the memory of Irving Godt and influenced by the early symphonies of David Diamond; the Calypso reflecting minimalism and having a “Bolero” feel; the Introduction and Dance which opens with another “nod” to David Diamond and adds quoting material from the first movement.
Chorale, Scherzo and Dance (string orchestra) (2003) (published Neil Kjos Music)  -Commissioned by the Richland High School String Orchestra, Win Garland, conductor.
Iridium (full orchestra) (1997, published Neil Kjos Music)
Commissioned by the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, Istvan Jaray, conductor
